- Premium Synthetic Re-lubrication: Professional-grade, plastic-safe synthetic grease (Molykote EM-30L) applied to slide rails and – only if explicitly required – gear trains for ultra-quiet, cold-start tracking reliability.
- Loading Belt inspection Refresh: Sled and tray drive belts inspected
- Loading Tray Alignment: Guide tracks checked to ensure the loading drawer opens and closes smoothly without shuddering.
- Musicality testing:
- Audio Output Path Verification: Primary fixed analogue RCA outputs and front-panel headphone socket/potentiometer fully tested for balance and pristine signal purity.
- Digital section checked: coaxial and digital outputs checked for sound if fitted.
- Error Correction test: Stress-tested against surface scratches using specialist reference media.
- Advanced Multi-Format Verification: Extensively bench-tested across retail red-book pressings, recordable CD-Rs, and high-density long-duration torture discs (up to 78+ minutes) with flawless tracking and subcode reading across all 7 internal bays.
- Thermal Soak Run: Unit stress-tested under continuous playback for a minimum of 2 hours to guarantee long-term component stability.
- Final Electrical Safety Check: Mains lead and internal fuse ratings verified for safe domestic operation.

Audiophile Acoustic Voicing: The MB-4s digital stage is beautifully tuned for traditional acoustic pressings, crisp pop/rock instrument separation, and clean vocal detail (tested with exceptional presence on acoustic retail recordings). Please note that in keeping with Nakamichi’s classic late-90s digital filtering philosophy, it delivers a highly detailed, open soundstage for standard arrangements, but is less suited for modern, dense, multi-layered ambient synthesizer walls of sound which can naturally saturate its vintage filter limits.
